ABOUT THE EVENT

“The Future of the Industry” summit is a two-day event powered by Los Angeles Urban League Young Professionals that will empower and educate young professionals and college students on the emerging technologies that will impact the future of Film/TV, Music, and Sports/eSports.

The weekend will conclude with an intimate brunch and silent auction to award current and future changemakers in Hollywood. Silent auction proceeds will benefit LAULYP member-only events and the United Negro College Fund and its Emerging Leaders program.

Film Screening and Conversation: Colors of Sankofa

A few weeks before a trip to Ghana, budding CEO, Elyse Bempong finds herself forced to replace her second in command. After swimming through what seems like a never ending pile of applicant resumés, a familiar name appears in the pile. However, this feeling was far from warm and fuzzy. An undesired opening in her empire leads Elyse to a place she never thought she would have to go back to. A despised past she worked diligently to disappear returns in the most unlikely of ways.


This short drama was created to highlight the harsh realities of colorism in a world obsessed with lighter skin, as well as, dive into the long term effects of bullying.
